She cried in vain loud, louder
And then faded into silence.
The shrilling sound dug a void
Where vermin grew and bred
Impregnated by indifference
She gave birth to lifelessness
They roam around our streets
Unrecognised and purposeless
Our own sibling once
Now some strange aliens.
